formerly the Solvent Space located in the Plant Zero complex, “the Shop” is the name for the building and physical location of a multi-purpose facility that houses multiple diverse community programs. the Shop is a performance gallery/venue, and art gallery, a broadcast studio, and a recording studio. the Shop is home to SlamRichmond, Virginia’s longest running poetry slam, broadcsted live EVERY Saturday on www.slamrichmond.tv, artSpace Annex, and expansion galley of artSpace, (www.artspacegallery.org, www.artspacegallery.tv) and MadMonkie Studios, which produces and hosts an array of community programs and events.
We are looking for artist for the following:
Sunday’s at The Shop are theater, and performance.
Monday is Movie Mondaze dedicated to film makers.
Tuesday is for dance. If you have a dance troupe hit us up.
Wednesday is the open mic night Live at The Shop.
Thursday is open for Comedy, improv, stand up and open mic.
Friday local music night.
Saturday SlamRichmond holding it down for the 7th season.
If you fit in to any of theses nights, come check us out, we need your support.

Kinetic Element is a progressive art-rock band playing in the traditional symphonic prog style in the vein of Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, early Genesis, Pink Floyd. We have a covers repertoire but would like to do a concert of our originals at an artistic venue such as this. We have our own sound system. Please see:

We have opened the Prog Day Festival twice (2008 & 2010) in Chapel Hill NC and have supported eight well known prog acts at concerts in Chapel Hill, Baltimore, Washington, Atlantic City and New York. Our CD “Powered by Light” was nominated for Best Debut CD of 2009 by The Prog Awards (an Italian progressive rock website).
